Beyond everything I've accomplished so far, I spend my free time participating in a wide array of creative joys. Since the real beauty of creating is sharing it, I just wanted to briefly showcase some of the things I've made over the years.
By far, the pastime I interact with most regularly is enjoying music. Since I was old enough to understand my television, I've been drawn to melodies, and throughout the years, I've grown a vast music library, both in my playlists and in my mind. I've always got an internal radio with a couple of stations playing recent tracks on repeat, and if I hear an actual song over the airwaves, I'll normally be pretty quick to recognize it and sing along!
After first being introduced to Google Drawings in a Creative Technology class, I've been honing in my skills in both that program and it's multi-page partner, Google Slides. Since it's a crossroads of colors, shapes, and visuals, it's no wonder that I've put this skill to use everywhere from multimedia presentations and cartography to my desktop wallpaper and the image you see here!
Ever since I got my first mobile phone, I've taken thousands of pictures of anything and everything that I found interesting or noteworthy. My favorites are usually landscapes of nature or of infrastructure, but truthfully, anything colorful or silly is neat enough. My love of photography has developed so much that I attempt to take at least one picture every day of the year, just as a background task for fun!
Since creating games is the intersection of such a great deal of my interests — graphic design, modeling, programming, storytelling, cartography, and infrastructure — I've felt compelled to dive deeply into the interest ever since I first heard of the Roblox Studio engine and platform. As of right now, my portfolio of games have amassed over 1,300 visits — a feat that I'm still astonished by!
Stemming from my long-standing tinkering with electronics and disassembling both laptops and PCs, I've been amazed by how anyone can type commands and have a computer execute them. My greatest experience lies with the fork of Lua that my ventures in game design has had me script in, but I've also crafted (or struggled to craft) Python applications that have been both useful, like a metadata editor or entertaining, like bingo. On top of all this, I've had some minor encounters with the CSS/HTML/JavaScript trifecta and block-based coding languages like Scratch and Blockly.
Spurred as a byproduct of game design, I've formed a love of road atlases and paper maps — digital apps just can't quite beat the reliability of cellular-independent paper, and I'm captivated by the fact that I can apply my graphic design talents to create my own maps. Adjacent to this fascination is my interests in weather, since hurricanes are a regular occurrence in my part of the Peach State. Whenever the next named storm starts to stare down at Georgia, rest assured that I'm following up with the National Hurricane Center and their forecasts!
